Pineapple from Mindanao

I really enjoy cold pina. That is the local word, borrowed from Spanish, for pineapple. I tried to grow them in the Caribbean when I lived there. It seemed easy then. Let's try it now.

Just as I have done in the past many years ago, I cut the top off the pina before slicing it to eat. Instead of throwing away the top, I decided to try to grow pineapple plants, or at least one plant.

Here is the top of the pineapple that I cut. This picture was taken the day I planted it.

Please check back later to see if it grows. I will try to keep you informed.
